I live in India and my country is also known for diversity in cultures so there are varieties in regional and traditional cuisines. I have been a big foody since I was a kid. I am among those who love to eat varieties of food. From Mumbai's Taj hotel to Himachal's Aakhri Dhaba, taste varies in different ways.
I am a street food lover, and I do not just stop at one shop. I travel a lot, so I found lots of options for street foods from Kashmir to Kanyakumari. Momos and maggie at hilly areas have no comparison with five-star hotels' foods. I recently went to Pune at my aunt's house. She took me to the local market. We had "vada pav" there for just fifty rupees and the taste was amazing that I could not forget. This made me realize that we spent lots of money in restaurants just to have a taste but still we rarely get that and our Indian street food is full of taste at just one-fourth price. Previously Indian street food was limited to "gol gappe" and "vada pav" but now street food comes up with multiple varieties like schezwan dosa, cheezy sandwiches, burgers, and even Indian style pizza. The most popular street food in India is now fast food like momos, chow mein, and manchurian, especially in mountains.
Whenever I go shopping, I always prefer to have something from the street vendors. According to people, street foods are not hygienic. But nowadays, even street food vendors started using disposable plates and they serve food at a very reasonable price. At least, everyone should try their food once. The small earnings can help street vendors to live better.
Finally, Indian street food is the heart of India, even it is popular among foreign tourists. My cousin who lives in Canada misses this many varieties of food. There are many youtube channels that promote Indian street foods and help vendors to raise their families better.
