To,

The State Transport Department,

Respected Sir,

With respect, I beg to say that I am a student studying in XII standard in XYZ school. My house is located very far from my school's location and my father is a low paid employee in a private firm. So it is very difficult for us to afford my traveling cost on such a small salary.

I, therefore, request you to kindly provide me a free bus pass to help me in carrying on my studies. I shall be highly obliged to you for this.

Thanking you,
Yours Sincerely,

Topic: Present Perfect Continuous Tense

Objective/Aim: Students will be able to use the present perfect continuous in written and spoken language.

Tools: textbook, chalk, green board, smart class, blackboard

Teaching Method:
Activity 1: Warm-Up
Ask some questions to check students' previous knowledge about the topic.

Activity 2:
Explain students by giving ample examples of present perfect continuous tense by continued or ongoing action that started in past and is continued until now.
Ask them the below questions.
(a) How long have they been enjoying a recess in the class?
(b) How long have they been reading in the class?
(c) How long have they been in the school library today?
(d) How long have they been playing in the school ground?
Students will reply above questions in time reference such as "for three hours", "since morning", "since afternoon" etc.

Activity 3: Give students a passage that contains instances of the present perfect continuous tense. Ask them to find it out and let them compare their findings with their classmates.

Ending:
  • Divide the class into four groups. Ask each group to imagine that they are on a school trip with their school friends.
  • Ask them to write the imagined situation sentences in the present perfect continuous tense.
  • The group with the maximum number of examples will win.
Evaluation/Review: Write some incomplete present perfect continuous tense sentences on the board and ask the students to complete those sentences with the whole class orally.
