"War is never a lasting solution for any problem." - A. P. J. Abdul Kalam

Men are fighting wars for centuries and also managed to increase their knowledge in this field. Men have upgraded their weapons from stones to nuclear bombs. Now men have power like Gods. This power is so immense that it always causes destruction in the world in the form of wars. Today, countries spend the largest percentage of its GDP on its military. Although, this money could be used for the welfare of society and the development of the country.

In older times, war causes death only to people who were fighting in the field. But Modern wars destroy the life of civilians as well. During wars schools, colleges, factories, malls, cinema houses, and any other public places remain close. Civilians get killed by crossfire. Attack by artillery and dropping bombs from aircraft destroy villages, towns, public buildings, hospitals, railway stations, museums, mills, etc.

During wars, the economy of the countries goes down. It takes too much time to recover back from economic loss. The rise of commodity prices makes life difficult for poor people. Hunger makes people forget love and sympathy and they kill each other for survival at any cost.

With the help of science, men have invented horrible weapons like nuclear weapons, atom bombs, hydrogen bombs, missiles, submarines, tanks, poisonous gases, chemical weapons, bomber airplanes, rockets, battleships, etc. Because of these weapons, numerous lives have been lost during world wars, Hiroshima and Nagasaki, Syrian civil war, Darfur war, Iraq war, Afghanistan war, the war against Boko Haram, Yemeni civil war, the war in Donbas, etc. Many countries like the USA, China, Russia, India, France, Israel, Pakistan, North Korea have nuclear bombs that can end the human race within seconds.

Greed for power has no end; it will not even end once you have everything. Some profligate politicians, certain countries and terrorist groups dominate others using terror as a weapon. Many innocent lives have to suffer either death or misery. The United Nations founded in 1945 with the aim of maintaining international peace and security. Every year, the General Assembly of the United Nations discusses international issues of development, peace and security.
