Topic: Future Perfect Tense

Objective/Aim: By the end of the lesson, students will be able to understand future perfect tense and able to use them. 

Tools/Materials: 
  • whiteboard and markers, 
  • textbook, 
  • handouts with exercises and examples

Teaching Method:
Activity 1: Warm-Up
Ask some questions to check students' previous knowledge about the topic. 

Activity 2:
Present the concept of the future perfect tense using visuals and examples. Explain that the future perfect tense is used to describe an action that will be completed before a specific time in the future at a particular future time.
Examples:
(a) She will have left before I arrive.
(b) He will not have completed the assignment by Friday.
(c) Will you have finished the report by the time I come back?

Activity 3: 
  • Give students handouts with exercises focusing on forming sentences in the future perfect tense. 
  • Include sentences where they have to identify the future perfect tense and rewrite the remaining sentences in the future perfect tense. 
  • Walk around the classroom to provide assistance and answer any questions.

Group Activity:
  • Divide the students into pairs. Ask each pair to share predictions about their future lives at different future times (e.g.,1 year, 5 years, 10 years)
  • Instruct them to write a short story in the future perfect tense by describing the scenarios.
  • Encourage creativity and collaboration among students.
Evaluation/Review: Ask for volunteers to share their short stories with the class. Provide feedback on accuracy and fluency, and address any common errors.
