A gift can contribute to a child’s development. What gift would you give to help a child develop? Why? Use reasons and specific examples to support your choice.

Here's a sample IELTS Writing Task 2:

Selecting the appropriate gift for a child can leave a lasting impression on their life. If I were to present a significant gift, I would present a soccer ball. This simple object can play a major role in the physical, social, and emotional development of a child.

Firstly, soccer playing enhances physical wellbeing. Most children spend too much time indoors in today's world. A soccer ball encourages them to go outside, run, and stay active. This constant outdoor exercise ensures that there is strength and coordination, which will enable them to live healthy lives.

Secondly, soccer teaches important social skills. Playing in a team requires communication, cooperation, and learning to respect others. Children who play soccer often become better at dealing with other people, solving conflicts, and building friendships. These skills are not only useful in childhood but are also valuable in adult life.

Lastly, a soccer ball can boost a child's confidence and discipline. Children learn the importance of diligence and perseverance through practice. Scoring a goal or enhancing their skills provides them with a feeling of accomplishment, which can positively impact their self-esteem. For example, my younger brother gained confidence and became more sociable after he joined a local soccer club. The gift of a soccer ball helped him discover his passion and grow in many areas.

In summary, a soccer ball is just not an ordinary toy, it promotes physical well-being, community, and individual development. It is an inexpensive but powerful gift for any child.
